Michiel “All Mike” Montiel grew up right here in Southern Arizona’s Legislative District 7. As a proud member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and a disabled combat veteran, Mike has dedicated his life to service, duty, and community.

After serving honorably in the U.S. military, Mike returned home determined to continue that service — not in uniform this time, but through leadership rooted in honesty, action, and heart.

His experiences taught him that leadership means listening, and that the best way to serve Arizona is by standing up for those who are too often overlooked — veterans, rural families, tribal communities, and working-class Arizonans.

“I’ve fought for my country — now I’m fighting for my community.”

PERSONAL HISTORY

ROOTED IN ARIZONA VALUES

All Mike' was born in Phoenix to a dedicated single mother who taught him about hard work and true grit. Her daily hardships and sacrifice molded his mind to understand that we sacrifice for the things we love and stand watch through all the things life throws at us. His father is a famed cowboy who made his living building out large projects and eventually trusted enough to earn his certified inspector license and taught Mike much about caring for the earth and being a man of action. As a young man he spent the bulk of his time outdoors either in his hometown of Superior or on the reservation visiting family. He always knew he wanted to be a G.I. Joe, and so of course he joined the army before he graduated high school and left shortly after, ready to serve his country.

FORGED THROUGH SERVICE AND SACRIFICE

The tragedy of 9/11 is an event that hangs heavy in the hearts and minds of all who lived through it and serving as a soldier during this tumultuous time in history shaped 'All Mike' into a leader amongst his peers on the battlefield. That time was very formative in solidifying his views on leadership by exemplifying the best qualities through action not words. After returning home from service he attended Arizona State University where he received a BA in Business and Communications, all while battling the trouble that followed him home called PTSD.

BUILDING COMMUNITY, FAMILY, AND A FUTURE FOR ARIZONA

After graduating 'All Mike' used his entrepreneurial spirit and green thumb to start a business growing food and natural remedies which was very successful. He then launched that opportunity into owning his own home right back in his hometown of Superior where he worked to rehabilitate a home over 100 years old while teaching junior high at the local middle school and even coached the football team to a winning record.

NOW…AND IN THE FUTURE…

Now, 'All Mike' sits at a unique intersection of helping others while being able to fully support and homeschool his 3 kids who live with him in Superior. He is also now able to follow his personal missions of service to others and has the ability to positively impact the communities he operates within. You would be hard pressed to find a person more active in their community seeking to help uplift EVERYONE.

“I’ve watched my brother turn some of the hardest moments of his life into a reason to TRULY SERVE others. Living with PTSD isn’t something he hides — it’s something he’s transformed into purpose. He takes the same strength, discipline, and empathy that carried him through his military service and channels it into helping others heal, rebuild, and be heard.

Running for State Senate isn’t about politics for him — it’s about uplifting people. He’s proof that pain doesn’t have to break you; it can shape you into the kind of leader who listens, understands, and acts with heart.”
